Why Angelina and Johnny bombed in "Tourism" (ABC News)

I was pleasantly surprised by an exception about jarring Golden Globe nominations: "Tourism."

Why Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp would be male actress nominations for a critique of cinema have agreed is a huge salaud?

Film completely bombed at the box office this weekend, pulling in an unfortunate (relatively) 17 million, while the third episode of "Narnia" earned $ 24.5 million. For the record, "Witch Apprentice" and "COP" had stronger openings this year.

We were totally psyched for this film because we thought Johnny and Angelina create Fireworks. We thought that, "will they fall in love?" That they could be the next Brangelina? OH, and there is a scene of shower NU? "But there is no chemistry is located on the screen. Many critics that the only thing break on top of the brazzell is the Office of tourism in Venice.

I'm not going to get out of the spoilers for the occasion, but say simply that if wooden acting was not bad enough, there are twisting invalid silent obscenely parcel the rest of the film, which lets you (if you see error) wonder why they bothered making the first half.

In case you have not followed the plot goes something like this: British officer Elise (Angelina Jolie) ropes American Mathematical dopey teacher Frank (Johnny Depp) in posing as her lover in Venice after receiving a note that he had received 20 million plastic surgery and she needed to find a doppelganger for men after him his track. Russian thugs then hunt the Professor of mathematics, thinking it is toddlers agent who stole tons of money on their.

You can't get much more bitter than Peter Travers at Rolling Stone review who said: "in a year of craptaculars,"The Tourist"merit burial at the bottom of the heap of manure 2010" before calling Jolie a "dummy procedure".

Keck exclusives: Dallas without J.R.? "News to me," says stunned Larry Hagman (Seattle Post Intelligencer)

December 18, 2010
Last updated 1: 33 pm PT

This report came out Thursday - TNT had not come to financial conditions with Larry Hagman to join the distribution of its Dallas reboot and perform a revised script presented without their Patriarch l? Don't take that the Bank immediately, darlins'.

I have just his telephone conversation with Larry said all of this is news for him. I read the report, who left the legend TV and 79 years old stunned almost speechless. "I had not heard speak, Hein!", said Larry. "It's really interesting." We talked about the money, but I didn't know he was going to come crashing stop like that. You got a scoop for what it's worth: Larry Hagman does not know what was going on! »

What it sounds like me is a scare tactic - step, contrary to what the Lorimar fired back to the summer 1980 after the infamous of J.R. Ewing when threatened to replace Larry with actor Robert Culp production company there no return European shooting, where the wise businessman had escaped while his team has negotiated a new contract.

"I had a good team," said Larry, who this week sprouts the first two episodes of Desperate Housewives as the rich fiancee Lynette mother (Polly Bergen). The actor is currently represented by Joel Dean and Harry Gold, two veteran skilled, accustomed to the landing of good business for their clients. And my hope is that they will be able to get Larry his just desserts.

In November, creators Larry Patrick Duffy (Bobby Ewing) and Linda Gray (Sue Ellen Ewing), I was told that they were on board for the new driver of Dallas, which was scheduled to begin filming at the beginning of February, in Texas, Louisiana or New Mexico.

Larry told me that he/she has read the driver written by Cynthia Cidre, the creator of short-lived CBS cane SOAP and found to be "good enough." The unique and still his usual autonomy. I thought that I wanted to do, but I didn't know that he came to this. We are so close (part), I did not know that there was a problem. I thought more or less we made, unless it's a scare tactic. But I must scare at my age.

Larry argues that it would be far from being so devastated, series attempted to launch without him, he acknowledged that it would be deeply disappointed not meet with his old creators.  "I would miss playing with Patrick and Linda, it is certain that we are all friends," he said.

Personally, I hope DTT pay whatever he wants, as Dallas star without ' ole J.R. not just Dallas. And on a personal note, on 18 December marks Larry and 56th anniversary wedding wife major, which unfortunately will be celebrated in the installation of Santa Monica, where his wife only-affected lived for nine months. I hope that the TNT will put an end to this madness and Larry price the gift of birthday he so richly deserves.

GT Academy for inclusion in the network reality show (Joystiq.com) speed contest

by Mike Schramm 18th December 2010 9: 00 PM not only the best players of Gran Turismo 5 receive a chance to be professional racecar drivers, but they're will be on the teevee, too! The competition, which began this month, turns into a reality on the network speed of next year's show. When finals to start in March 2011, the candidates for the last 32 trips and difficulties will be filmed for the show as they pass through the last competition and the process of formation of race.

It is not mentioned or competitors will have to perform stunts on a deserted island, to live in a House, then under the supervision of 24/7 surveillance cameras or give roses with each other, but we assume just because is a reality show that all these things occur. We also ask candidate nomination to be courageous, charismatic runner who eventually becomes a celebrity D-level.

TRON: LEGACY is struggle (screen of Rama)

There were concerns that TRON: LEGACY could do poorly at the box office and previous follow-up suggested the film could win just as little as 35 million dollars in its first three days, which is bad, considering the film had a budget estimated at 150 M $ and global marketing estimated at a further $120 M, which is a crapload of money for 35 million in its opening weekend is not a good sign.
Figures are, moreover, for the time being at least

via comingsoon.net, TRON: LEGACY has taken as its projections of midnight with 25% of this amount from projections in IMAX theatres 228 $ 3.5 million. Depending on the time, this percentage of IMAX for non-IMAX at midnight is higher than the original avatar and Iron Man 2, but it is doubtful TRON: LEGACY would be able to break 11.8 million record IMAX prepared weekend by Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: part 1.

TRON: LEGACY received mixed reviews and much of the criticism did not appreciate the film, Rottentomatoes up 47%
It is planned that the film will be Bank only 47 million in its opening weekend significantly lower than the $ 50 million studio expected.
It is not bad, but it is not good either. Therefore, we will see how it goes.

Captain Beefheart dies at 69 (Hollywood Reporter)

Singer, Visual artist, musician, composer and American iconoclast Don Van Vliet, known worldwide as Captain Beefheart, died at the age of 69, complications related to sclerosis, a representative of the artist said Friday.

For many lovers of music, Van Vliet perfectly illustrated underground psychedelic music of the 1960s and 1970s California. Its distinctive mix of shroud delta blues, jazzisms avant-garde and rock polyrythmie looked like no other contemporary artists that influence such as Tom Waits and The White Stripes as well as many other punk, new wave and experimental musicians of the 20th century. Coarse singing voice was deep and growly - much like Wolf Howlin' remarkable for its multi-octave range. He also played harmonica and saxophone.Born Don Glen Vliet on January 15, 1941, in Glendale, California, he showed a rare talent as a sculptor at a very young age to turn to music as a teenager. Marking a regional hit with a grungy Bo Diddley version of ""Diddy Wah Diddy"in 1966, Captain Beefheart and the Magic band Vliet bounced between several different drives and presided over a rotating series of intense young musicians, including the famous guitarists such as Ry Cooder and Gary Lucas backup." Changing personality alternately loved and hated by the musicians who lived, tours and saved him, Van Vliet made a dozen studio albums from 1967 to 1982, including its celebrated confusion and the very influential double LP 1969 Trout mask Replica - which has been produced and published by Frank Zappa, first supporters that he knew from their junior high school in Lancaster, California. Infamous for his volatile nature, Van Vliet has undergone a relationship of love/hate with Zappa was separated from the guitarist for significant periods of time. The two reconcile before Zappa died in 1993. Vliet has been also depicted as a rough, autocratic, singer who with his support of musicians as a leader of tyrannical worship, requiring a presentation complete with its complex mission and punish his faithful servants verbally and physically when they do not measure its stringent standards. A knowledgeable mythmaker who continually exaggerated and strange facts of his life and his work in the course of interviews, Van Vliet was a consummate linguist renamed its outset with powerfully iconic nicknames as Drumbo, drummer John French), Rockette Morton (bassist Mark Boston) and Mascara Snake (cousin Victor Hayden). His musical career was far from being a commercial success, Captain Beefheart records are an incredible body of work with many highlights and some clunkers to start. Albums like the kid's corner 1972 show him make concessions nuanced and helpful towards marketability without sacrificing their unique vision while lesser records such as jeans and Moonbeams was later disavowed by the artist himself. Again, Captain Beefheart, Don Van Vliet was a popular and the United States United Kingdom decades, artist receiving tones accented as Rolling Stone Magazine, BBC's John Peel radio personality, creator Matt Groening, artist and filmmaker Julian Schnabel Simpsons and many others. After records retired from the industry of music in 1982, Van Vliet focused exclusively on Visual arts, attain a level just acclaim for its primitive-Impressionist summaries (using mainly oil) and had exhibitions of his paintings to Anton Kern and Michael Werner galleries in New York. He become extremely lonely during this time, the decline of most interview requests and stay away from the pubic eye. The debilitating effects of muscular sclerosis left him wheelchair-bound in the 1990s after, but he continued to paint and draw until his death. From many respected art critics have acclaimed works lately with his some of his paintings extraction between $20,000 and $50,000. An American original, Don Van Vliet has developed its distinctive stamp on especially his own character odd he created. He is survived by his wife of many years, Janet Van Vliet.

It's official: "Spider-man of Broadway" delayed until February 7 (Hollywood Reporter)

Broadway production is the difficulty of Spider-man disables black delaying its night opening until February 7, according to a communiqué of the production company.

The original opening evening was January 11.

Producer Chief Michael Cohl said in a statement: "" due to some unforeseen setbacks, including the wound with a main cast member it became clear that we must give the team more time to fully perform their vision.""

"Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark is an extremely ambitious undertaking as everyone knows, and I have no intention of cutting a single corner in getting to the finish line," he added.

The Hollywood Reporter said earlier this week that 65 million Broadway production would be postponed once more.

But in spite of technical parasites and injuries of the actor (villainess Natalie Mendoza received a concussion after being struck on the head by equipment behind-the-scenes she returned Wednesday; speaking flight broke both wrists of repetition), new about the audacity of the Cascade Mountains stoked only interest in production.

OS guest stars us would like to see (Wetpaint)

Bone had some incredible guest stars over the years, but there are a few folks more than we would like to take a look. Here is our choice for guest coveted star with a suggestion or two on what kind of story would make the show. Hear that Hart Hanson?

Nathan Fillion
Nathan has that Joss Whedon/Buffy against vampires connection (he played Caleb, the priest in the show), and it would be nice to see it as a cunning con man giving a term Booth for his money.

Mary Jo Deschanel

Mother Emily is an actress and appeared on Law & Order, Twin Peaks and House, among other shows. Since sister Emily Zooey has made a guest appearance and his father from cinematographer Caleb directed an episode, it seems only fitting to provide mother on as well. It could be an aunt lost long Brennan.

Sarah Michelle Gellar

Angel Redux? Sarah Michelle would meet with David Boreanaz, somehow. We believe that it should be the secondary love interest who broke his heart back in the day.

Emily and husband of Zooey
David Hornsby and Benjamin Gibbard may guest star as squinterns training. Brennan will have their fire for the destruction of evidence.

Robin Pattinson
The twilight star could make an appearance as a man suspected of being a vampire. How original!

William Peterson
Because we lack of William on CSI, Gil Grissom may give a lecture to the Jeffersonian attend Brennan.

Aaron Paul
Paul is remarkable as Jesse Pinkman on Breaking Bad, but it would be great as a corrupt COP Booth must investigate?

Mariska Hargitay

Mariska begins on Law and Order SVU butt, but it also has an amazing story. She needs a plot that honors his father generator body, Mickey Hargitay and mother of the bomb, Jayne Mansfield.

Tatum o ' Neal
You think that Max Keenan is Russ and Temperance, do you? Tatum pourrait star as long forgotten Max, daughter Emily.

Matthew Fox

Matthew must be United with Tamara Taylor on the screen. In his days pre-Lost, Matthew was Charlie Salinger on five group and Tamara played his girlfriend, Grace Wilcox. Maybe Matthew can sweep off the coast of his feet on os Mac?

Entertainment - including easily dwarf fees last musical more expensive Broadway, the 25 million "Shrek the" - perhaps on a hero comic strip, but it now itself became easy fodder for comic books, with two Conan o Brien and "Saturday Night Live" issuing identity theft.

The show was built specifically for Foxwoods 1 928-seat theatre on 42nd Street, which means a traditional outdoor test for correct parasites was not possible. Cohl said he considers delay previews until production had gelled better, but has argued that the cast and crew had to bite the bullet Finally, even if they risked bad initial press.

Costs of mass emission - cast 41 members, 18 members of the Orchestra, complicate sets and 27 bold aerial acrobatics, including a battle between two characters on the audience - average Theatre will sell almost every show several years only for profitability. Roberta Sloan, actress, Director, author and head of education at Temple University, said there are several possible reasons that production opening was postponed.

She said that some possibilities include a story that does not, casting that flies, accessories, stunts or costumes that are not ready or music that is not fitting well. "The most common reason is that the producers are not satisfied with the form that the show is and do not feel that he will obtain positive reviews in its current state," Sloan said.

Other Broadway shows have struggled with getting their game and cascades of work during the previews, including "Mary Poppins" in 2006 when the whole of the massive House is off track and "Titanic" touched by many problems in its month preview period in 1997. The two then to be hits.

Synthesis of Brooklyn with the Festival of electronic music in Brooklyn, New York Daily News)

French Horn Rebellion is one of the city's best synth-driven acts - and will perform at BEMF.French Horn rebellion is one of better focusing on synthesizers acts the city - and BEMF will occur.

Electro dance Brooklyn at edgiest parties take place warm nights of summer, outside, in industrial unexpected places.

Then why Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival held this year on a cold night, indoors, at every music fan club already December knows (Williamsburg music)?

"The city of New York have much tolerance for dance," says Jen Lyon, co-producer of the festival club-happy, that benefit its third annual edition tomorrow in a showcase of eight hours, conditioned by the artist begins at 8 p.m. "it is like Berlin, where they let you 10,000 children appears in the middle of the day to dance on a bridge."

In fact, Bloomberg fun-standards administration was notoriously stingy with things like permits for musical events outdoors that insisted on issues such as levels of decibels (an understandable concern for neighbors, who are still in more remote places like channel Gowanus, where the first two festivals of Brooklyn Electro took place).

And then, characteristic BEMF this sensitive that enough rhythmically zest year more creative to compensate for relative conventionality of its value and music. It is also the local scene, highlighting many of the best acts that this city has to offer, synth-driven class actress Horn rebellion. Seventy percent of acts live in districts, while stuffing - rap-spirit - Kid Sister was born in Chicago.

If the location of the event appears to be common, it involves a significant switch. The fest will be out on three spaces connection: Music Hall, public Assembly (located side), as well as a café that link. Together, which gives the event a capacity of approximately 1,200 souls.

Coffee region will feature prominent placement for great sponsor event, Vitaminwater, whose participation is the growth of this event. In its first incarnation, Festival has attracted less than half of the fans expected at the end of the week.

Included acts range seal producers complete bands (the latter including about half of the range). According to Ruth Heronemus co-producer "the last two years had a real growth in bands full, electronic, playing music, you can dance".

List of this year suggests another trend: sounds more optimistic and accessible. Artists have a penchant for happy beats and seems lighter, as opposed to the darkest before worlds, deep house music techno or trance.

"Much done music now is much more user-friendly," explains Heronemus. "We're having a huge resurgence of disco".

Difficult, which applies to each Act. In fact, the festival will present a demi-tendance: "the Witch House" music perfectly exemplified by artists such as selective and OOOOO.

"It is dark, strange and nervous," says Heronemus. "This looks like the pagan rites music."

Course, underground dance together was a little Pagan, even though such associations have been itching in the arena city. (Its connection with the drug culture does help).

However, the resistance has to embolden those behind BEMF. As stated in Lyons, "it is our responsibility as conservatives in this form to create sustainability of dance music to keep the conversation going.

A key concern for the India - apparent in several cables - is that the United States and its Western allies will withdraw prematurely of the Afghanistan after having negotiated a sort of settlement with the Taliban. A Pooter Revery (Literary Kicks)

1 Okay, enough of this French stuff. A recent link on current books recalled one of the funniest books, I have ever read, the pure British satire smooth vicious 1888 and 1889 a y by George Grossmith log called me.

Newspaper, originally published as a publication series in Punch Magazine is the fiction of a humble but optimistic middle class man keeps the House in the northern suburbs of London. Parody of provincial spirit has a sharp, bitter meaning which can remind of P. g. Wodehouse, Noel Coward, Marx Brothers or Monty Python (it precedes each of them). This excellent article on the book of the surface draws an analogy between the character of young Pooter Lupin, the rebellious son our hero of the respectable log retention and character later original Jimmy Porter, the Angry young man was invented by John Osborne.

It is easy to draw connections to Charles Pooter. When I read the newspaper I think always beautiful songs that Ray Davies wrote the Kinks. The character that emerges from many of these Kinks songs is Pooter:

I love my football Saturday
Roast beef Sunday - straight!

This composite lyrical character called his house "Isolated" even if "now houses in the street all the same. It has always been my theory that Ray Davies was inspired by George Grossmith novel mainly because he grew up in the northern suburbs of London even where log takes place. These districts are also settings for most of the Kinks songs (as well as by what it the worth, Zadie Smith fiction): Holloway, Muswell Hill, Willesden Green, the latter also the title of a typically Pooter-esque song:

... There is something that takes me calling back
my little semi-detached.

There is no end Pooter connections. Author George Grossmith, then a popular man in British Colombia entertainment media was also a famous comic lead baritone who created roles featured in best Gilbert and Sullivan houses at the Savoy. He created the role of Sir Joseph Porter in h. M. s. Pinafore, the modern General in pirates of Penzance, Bunthorne, patience and Ko - Ko the Lord high executioner in The Mikado. Amazingly, it was a performing artist educated or trained writer. George Grossmith character can be seen moving performance by Martin Savage of Mike Leigh Topsy Turvy film (which has taken the photo at the top of this page). Nervous, fragile and pasty faced, the theatrical dandy in the movie somehow channels Charles Pooter as well.

2 Lev Grossman cloudy article regarding "Person of the year" Mark Zuckerberg is good enough. I am particularly like this:

The reality is that Zuckerberg is not distant, and it is not a loner. It is the opposite. He spent his entire life in the tight social environments, support, intensely connected: firstly in the bosom of the Zuckerberg, family and then in the residences at Harvard and Facebook now, where his best friends are members of its staff, it has no offices and work is impressive. Zuckerberg love be around people. He did not build Facebook so that he could have a social life like the rest of us. He built because he wanted the rest of us to see her.

I felt the same thing on Zuckerberg (which I talked about here and here). Social network film depicts Zuckerberg as grip of popularity, but I think he is obsessed by popularity as a puzzle. He wanted to know how it worked, how it could be designed. I think that it is safe to say that it is the algorithm.

Blake Edwards: a life in clips (guardian)

Not many emerging writers can disrupt mass enough to make the cover of the New York Times the following day, but that which is reached when Orson Welles handpicked Blake Edwards to work on his famous 1938 plays War Of The Worlds radio.

However, it was television where Edwards began to carve out its own distinctive style. Created in response to Mike Hammer, Sam Spade and on countless other private black tails of the era, the end of the 50 series NBC Peter Gunn would prove be place of birth of a large part of Blake Edwards style.

Water where counterparts were abrasive, where they were pessimistic, Gunn - powered by timeless theme music by Henry Mancini - dapper has been cooler that anyone could have imagined.

Edwards is not responsible for the scenario for lunch from 1961 to Tiffany but aerated film, feel lightfooted was in him and Audrey Hepburn would not be half of the icon that it is today without his leadership.

A year later and Edwards had moved on the days of wine and roses, a tearjerker shamelessly about alcoholism who won Oscar nominations for Jack Lemmon and Lee Remick. Once, aided by a peerless by Henry Mancini soundtrack, the film is still one of the most powerful arguments anti-alcohol autour - enough to convince Edwards himself to stop drinking.

Another year and Edwards had co-written and directed the first film in a series that will prove to be his legacy. 1963 Rose Panther was created as a piece of capers together using David Niven and Peter Wagner skills as much as anyone else. But it was Clouseau Inspector who would come to define the film and its consequences for many performance havoc of Peter Sellers.

The first of these suites, Shot In The Dark, marked the moment where Blake Edwards to realize the potential of the character Clouseau. He seemed to know exactly how much space to leave before vendors that its plans become complacent, introducing foil perfect stage fright and possibly crazy Charles Dreyfus. It was a moment that Edwards would never better.

The 1970s were relatively calm for Edwards, consisting of a few pieces of minors and three distinct suites of the Pink Panther. However, he was able to close the Decade epic mode with 10, noisy sex comedy who somehow managed to transform Dudley Moore a megastar and pin-up. With 10 Edward had found his second breath.

Victor Victoria 1982 - a remake of 1933 - consolidated on this second German film blowing to great effect. By combining this labyrinthine farce, ambivalent sexuality, music by Henry Mancini and a show-stopping by his wife, Julie Andrews, Tower is such an Oscar winning tour de force that he subsequently developed a second life as a Tony Award-winning musical.

In this regard, there was a notable and unstoppable quality decline. A brief highlight, however, was Blind Date 1987, featuring a hero pre-action Bruce Willis. Her frenetic distribution here gave him an ideal opportunity to chew landscapes more than anyone could have thought possible.

In 2004, Blake Edwards finally won her Oscar. This is only an honorary Oscar and he had to undergo an introduction of nauseating line of demarcation of Jim Carrey, but the octogenarian still managed to steal show together with the deadly slapstick research inimitable display.

These documentaries are playing on a long tradition of juggling degrees of truth, or it weights for propaganda purposes. Robert Flaherty was criticized in retrospect to have false North Nanook elements (both "the Nanook wives", for example, have been played by girlfriends own Director), but in the 1920s, it was accepted practice for the documentary scene or recreate scenes.

If it is not simply that kind of literary hoax perpetrated by Chatterton, Vian or Frey cooking, film techniques could have been designed to encourage the deceit; events that appear to be shot in a single location are filmed elsewhere, while its doubled, editing and special effects manipulate raw materials. Documentaries, such as historical and biopics epics, are often criticised for twisting of the facts, but it is difficult to define facts in a medium that requires its practitioners make creative choices and impose structure to make a film of missions.

Fakery is now so ingrained culture popular that we have become suspicious of what anyone claiming to present the truth. The French documentary oceans was full of amazing images of Sea serpents long and winding or spheres trillion on small fish, organize themselves in shimmering. Even when the end credits, reads a shark sequence get that cut fins and be initiated into the ocean to die was "reconstituted", it makes us all that we have seen the question.

Similarly, we are continually questioning the authenticity of what is happening in a film such as Catfish. But now, we have begun to these detectors shit even watching everything either TV talent with rigged results or news articles on castrating German engaged their daughters in the cities that may or may not exist. At its most extreme suspicion may fail in conspiracy paranoiac theorization, but he encouraged as look at us events such as Royal engagement with a skeptical eye and ask how to internship-managed to divert the attention of the most important stories. Of course, just leaves us with the problem of labour on which of these news stories are "Resting on a true story", which are mockumentaries.

Julian Assange extradition are still requested by United States (guardian)

The U.S. justice department has always approached the British Government to extradite Julian Assange, in spite of one of his lawyers saying last week that an indictment would be imminent, according to British diplomats.

If the United States are preparing to seek extradition, is almost certain that the U.S. justice department and other officials would already be channelled to their counterparts in London in detail.

The U.S. attorney general, Eric Holder, is undergone enormous political action against the Assange pressures, but its officials are trying to find laws whereby mount a lawsuit.

Today, a Committee of the Congress, the House Judiciary Committee has evidence of a variety of lawyers about the possibility of prosecution under the Espionage Act and legal and constitutional issues raised by WikiLeaks.

There is a consensus among U.S. constitutional lawyers and other legal experts, while repeating problems attached to the prosecution, that Assange will be indicted. But they are dubious about the chances of extradition between Great Britain and think it will even more difficult the Sweden.

Floyd Abrams, the lawyer who has defended the New York Times in the Supreme Court on the leak the Pentagon Papers in the 1970s, said today that the chances of a U.S. indictment against Assange were better than even. Paul Rosenzweig, a former assistant Secretary for policy Assistant in the Department of Homeland Security, the higher chances to 80%.

One of the lawyers of Assange, Jennifer Robinson, told ABC News last week that an indictment may be imminent.

But a spokesman for the British Embassy in Washington, asked if the United States approached the British Government on extradition, said today: "we no comment on extradition." Private, British diplomats have indicated that it had no substantive discussions with us about any impending extradition request.

Counsel for the U.S. are sceptical about whether Assange could be prosecuted under the Espionage Act and suggests that the Department of justice was looking for alternatives.

Another one of Mark Stephens Assange, lawyers said TV al-Jazeera that a grand jury constituted secretly already honored in Alexandria, Virginia, with a view to prosecution. A spokesman for the Ministry of justice refused to comment on.

Abrams said the Bush administration has introduced difficult cases in Alexandria, and rather CD and it would be interesting Obama administration was to do the same. "CD is the most natural place, but is likely to be more pro-defending and Virginia courts are more favourable to the prosecution," said Abrams.

He added: "it would certainly be an indictment if Assange had encouraged [Bradley Manning, private U.S. suspected of being behind the leak] to provide information and a mechanism to do so." Which could make it easier for the Department of justice to bring a charge of conspiracy. I have not given the opportunities that the 80%. I think it is better as well as they will take place. »

Assange and WikiLeaks could make an argument is that it is a new, as described on its Web site and should be protected from prosecution under the freedom of the press. It could be argued that if the Assange should be prosecuted, why not, the New York Times and the Guardian?

"There must be an element of bad faith is clearly absent with [New York] Times and, I presume, the Guardian." This is a problem of debatable with Assange, "said Abrams."

Rosenzweig, a fellow of the conservative Heritage Foundation agreed: "newspapers like the Guardian add analysis and the value of the business." WikiLeaks is just a compiler or a means of distribution. Is Assange character, apparently did not properly greeted by an American Board if it ever goes to one. »

Rosenzweig put the chances of an indictment at 80% more "because of the policy of the situation than anything else." The u.s. Government must be considered to take vigorous measures against the Assange. And, if the request for extradition is refused, then Governments can share in the "foul" for failing to justice Assange.

The meeting of the grand jury in Alexandria, Rosenzweig said: "" Alexandria is a place very probably the United States Government investigation... I would be relatively confident that it is accurate. ""

Another legal expert, Scott Silliman, Professor at Duke University law school also thought that the Department of justice consider charging conspiracy Assange in its dealings with Manning. "That would be a matter very"is dependent,"However, because the Government prove beyond a reasonable doubt Assange sought Manning files or somehow induced provide WikiLeaks files should be."

"Interestingly, however, if these facts are proved, it would be no different than what many journalists of newspaper U.S. facing their sources." This means that if fresh Government a violation of the espionage or a tender, the matter would still be very problematic and would set a precedent very controversial to media in this country. »

MSNBC TV this week asked a panel of three legal experts, including Rosenzweig, businessmen and the consensus that emerged was that it risked a court challenge.

One of the Panel, the Abbe Lowell, defence counsel stated: "WikiLeaks disclosures are getting more bold and causing more controversy." The United States will be finding a way to make accusations because not doing so will be deemed bad legal precedent, poor national policy and external relations. »

The third member, Stephen Vladeck, Professor of law at American University said that, if only there was no conviction in Sweden, "I think it is very likely that the u.s. Government will continue an indictment (or opens an indictment, he has already obtained) and to request the extradition of Assange". ""

Book review: ' hero: the life and legend of Lawrence of Arabia ' by Michael Korda (LA Times)

T. E. LawrenceT.E. Lawrence, adventurer immortalized as "Lawrence of Arabia" for leading an army of warriors of the desert, seen in this undated photo. (Associated Press / 16 December 2010)There is more at stake sale selection of Michael Korda's exciting new book title "" Heroes: life and legend of Lawrence of Arabia. ""

KORDA, now 77, is one of the editors more success of his generation and a bit of a legend himself at the head of the Publisher Simon & Shuster, this calculation may not be excluded choice. Yet, the heroism - its origins, the true content and importance - concerned Korda since abandoned other genera of history, said always been her first love. In previous volumes, he extolled the heroism of Ulysses s. Grant, Dwight d. Eisenhower and the drivers of the RAF battle of Britain. T.E. Lawrence, however, the Korda was found in a topic of the environment and the complexity are better that-well-suited to her own experience and flavours.

The result is a fresh and engaging unexpected biography written which adds significantly to our understanding of life and the contribution of this strange, contradictory, curiously admirable and compelling topic. This is no small feat, given that Lawrence has published two accounts of its crucial years with the Bedouins in the war of the desert - "Seven pillars of wisdom" and "Revolt in the desert" - and was the subject of close to 60 biographies of variable quality, an epic film, documentaries, television series and same stage plays. Korda extends on all familiar material with a good eye and tact and organizing narrative well-paced with a flair. (No surprise, really, as is the guy who is rich in Jackie Susann.)

That Korda performs beyond to deliver a fascinating story said, is to make the case for Laurent not only as a Shapeshifter in what we call "asymmetric warfare" - expression worked really British strategists of his time - but also a diplomat clever, very human

Needless to the now familiar dramatic arc intention of Lawrence melodramatic life here, but precise Korda how extraordinarily adapted, it has been truly heroic role, he played in the world war superbly prepared, in fact, through formal education, scholarly activities and the persona he voluntary and shaped for himself. This is the project of the Korda regain a more traditional concept of the heroic between game - and rather convincing even classic.

The author is particularly good to demonstrate how Lawrence apparently instinctive anti-colonialist sentiment, with genuine respect for the spirit of Bedouins, made possible the effective leadership. At the battle of Deraa, for example, officers British regulars Commander Indian troops beaten with Arabic Lawrence "Army" have were horrified by the manner in which allies looted and injured Turkish cut the throat of captured. When they demanded that Lawrence intervene with his men, he replied that "it was their idea of war". Later, he confessed contempt Arabs, sharing the Indian troops: "at least my mind seemed to feel," he wrote: "" Indian puny and confined... something troops so unlike Bedouin abrupt, healthy for our joyous army. ' " However, as Korda notes, "what Lawrence dismissed as"enslavement"may simply have been behaviour of trained and professional troops who knew the meaning of the phrase" good order and discipline. " »

Reputation of Lawrence - or at least, his legend - was obtained for generations of future by performance of Peter O'Toole honoured 1962 epic film by David Lean, "Lawrence of Arabia," something of a monumental point of reference in an era of films and other Steven Spielberg has called "a miracle". Korda tells a particularly engaging story how his uncle, the filmmaker Alexander Korda, has come to sell the rights to the history of Lawrence, of the years of work put into the project, Sam Spiegel "breakfast at Langlois, club chic side offices of Korda Piccadilly 144-146. Spiegel was purchased as a whole: the book (Lawrence Revolt In the Desert), the current scenario, all preliminary sketches. (Coffee, brandy and cigars, he also bought the film rights ' African Queen, ' which prompted Korda, in a rare burst of judgment, said, "my dear Sam, an old man and the woman of descended African river in an old boat - go bankrupt.") "

Korda provides a clear, rather gripping account of Lawrence vision of what might look like a Middle East war - with a viable Jewish Palestine, that he convinced his great ally, the Hashemite prince Faisal, to accept and rational borders of new independent Arab nations homeland. The betrayal of the legitimate aspirations of Arabs by the English and French was written Korda, "the primary guilt was Lawrence, which explains much of his life from 1922 until his death in 1935," a period in which he worked in literature and life as a soldier, Airman under assumed names.

Lawrence was actually responsible for the creation of three Arab States, although only - Jordan - survives within the boundaries, he has in mind. "As it has proved," Korda concludes, "brutal sculpture of the Turkish empire was complicated by the fact that large oil reserves were in areas most aft, on the eastern edge of the Middle East." These would have the effect of transforming the desert "kingdoms ' and 'principalities' oil rich powers while leaving the more highly developed, better educated and more populated parts of region - Egypt, Syria Jordan and Lebanon - poor." British and French policy... ensured that there would no unitary Arab State as a great power in which oil revenues may be used to improve the lives of the Arabs and upset just these ambitions Lawrence had stayed in these pains to create. »

Even heroism, biography engaging Korda suggests, its tragic limits.
